Pranayama and Bandhas Workshop
with Bobbi-Jo Ketcheson, RYT 500
Sunday, April 22
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Yoga Bandhas, or body locks, are an ancient practice deeply rooted in the yogic tradition. The practice involves locking (tightening and lifting) specific muscles in the body to regulate and energize your system. Discover how to unlock the transformational energetic powers of yoga bandhas.
Pranayama are breathing exercises which clear the physical and emotional obstacles in the body, freeing the breath. The flow of prana (breath) = life energy.
We’ll focus on these practices, and the chakras, alignment, benefits and contra-indications associated with each of the following:
Dirga Pranayana (three-part breath)
Nadi Shodhana Pranayama (alternate nostril breathing)
Samavritti Pranayama (equal or balanced breathing)
Bhastrika Pranayama (bellows breath)
Bhramaria Pranayama (humming bee breath)
Sitali Pranayama (cooling breath)
Surya Bhrndana Pranayama (sun-piercing, or right nostril breath)
Mula bandha (Root lock)
Uddiyana bandha (Abdominal lock)
Jalandhara bandha (Chin lock)
