Spread Art Artist in Residence Chelsea Unzner will lead this theatre workshop where she will split participants up into two groups and have them create two fictional islands: Greenel and Graynel.

Chelsea will then lead activities with islands independently so as to create a sense of pride for each group to create attachment for their respective countries. Once they’ve established their country allegiance, she will introduce tension. Due to a lack of contact in this fictional world between the two islands, they start creating derogatory viewpoints against each other. Chelsea will then use exercises to heighten the tension between the two islands until there is an epidemic on one of the islands which leaves them in need of help from the other island.
Through more theatre exercises, the two groups will find ways to overcome their differences, and find possible ways to create unity between them.
