Take a hike with a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year! Meet Jennifer Pharr Davis on a moderate hike, and hear her amazing story during this two-part event.
From 9:30-10:30 a.m. – Join Jennifer for a 2.1-mile hike on the Long Trail. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle for this moderate hike. Registration begins May 1; call 616-0554 to register. Registration is required for the hike portion of the event only. Those interested in attending must call to register for the event, indicating that you are going on this event page does not mean you are registered.
From 11 a.m.-noon – “The Extra Mile: Exploring the Limits of Endurance” with Jennifer Pharr Davis in the Nature Center auditorium. Davis was the fastest person ever to complete the Appalachian Trail. During her talk, she will recount her 46-day, 47-mile-per-day “fastest-known time” on the Appalachian Trail, describing the internal and external struggles involved in maximizing her miles and her potential. Her book, ‘The Pursuit of Endurance,” will be available for purchase and signing after the program. Registration is not required to attend the presentation.
