Join us for a celebration of National Poetry Month with Ms. Zey. While Ms. Zey reads both her own original poetry and favorites by other poets, artist Malik Hill will use the poetry as a springboard to create original pastel paintings. This program is free and open to all members of the general public.
Ms. Zey, otherwise known as Zanzel Kathy Roach, is the author of the recently published poetry anthology, Something Beautiful: A Look at Life Through Poetry. In addition to holding a Bachelor’s Degree in African, African American and Caribbean Studies from William Paterson College and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from New Jersey City University, Ms. Zey has had numerous speaking appearances at Black History Month and Women’s History Month celebrations throughout the area. More information about Ms. Zey can be found at www.zanzel.com.
National Poetry Month was introduced in April of 1996 by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States and has been celebrated every April since that time.
