Participate in our series of online presentations about relevant and current topics, featuring St. Kate's faculty who are experts in their field. Each FREE program is one hour, starting at noon, with 30-40 minutes of presentation followed by a period of questions and answers.

Dr. Mary Hearst, our presenter, is a social epidemiologist, director of the master's in public health in global health program, and chair of Public Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science and Sonography at St. Catherine University.

The social determinants of health are social, political, economic and other structural factors in society the impact the health of communities. This session will provide an overview of what is public health, how does public health consider the social determinants of health and what does public health do to reduce health disparities.
