2018 marks the 100th birthday of the legendary composer, Leonard Bernstein. In celebration of his vibrant mark upon United States culture, Gonzaga’s Chamber and Women’s Choruses present Bernstein at 100 this Sunday, April 8, at 3 pm at St. John’s Cathedral. Our students will perform colorful selections from Candide and MASS, commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy for the 1971 opening of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. They also present a dramatic performance of Bernstein’s The Lark, depicting events in the life of Joan of Arc.
