Dr. Mayer will discuss the connection between the brain, gut, and microbiome; the effects of diet, stress, and emotions; and the impact of diet.

One of the pioneers and leading researchers in the role of mind-brain-body interactions in health and chronic disease, Dr. Mayer is a gastroenterologist, neuroscientist, and professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the executive director of the G. Oppenheimer Center for Neurobiology of Stress and Resilience at UCLA, and co-director of the CURE: Digestive Diseases Research Center. His book, The Mind-Gut Connection, was published by Harper Wave in 2016.

This Lunchtime Learning presentation is free, and no tickets are required. It'll be held in the Moose-Wapiti classroom at St. John’s Medical Center. The Moose-Wapiti classroom is located downstairs at 625 E. Broadway. Enter through the Emergency Department, and take the stairs (on the right after the first set of doors) or the elevator (on the right through the second set of doors) to the lower level.
