Welcome to the month of March! Holy Week will be here before we know it! If you're looking for a powerful service to start your Triduum morning, do consider joining us at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Napa, CA for the three day morning Tenebrae service. The word Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." The distinctive ceremony of Tenebrae is the gradual extinguishing of candles while a series of lauds and lamentations are sung by cantors as well as the entire congregation. It is all in English, but it's a wonderful prayer.
Each day we have different prayers and your participation is what makes it so special. We hope to see you on Holy Thursday, March 29, Good Friday, March 30 and Holy Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 AM. The service lasts approximately 1 hour, so you have time to get to work afterwards.
If you haven't experienced a Tenebrae service, come at least once. We will also have the blessing of the Easter baskets, a wonderful tradition brought to us by our Polish community, followed by hospitality on Holy Saturday morning after Tenebrae. Come enjoy this wonderful Holy Week tradition with us!
