WHAT IS THE SUNFLOWER ART FESTIVAL?
The festival is a month-long celebration of art, encompassing all styles and genres. There will be a number of small community events, workshops and exhibitions throughout the month culminating in an exhibition at the University of York, showcasing all artworks from Thursday 12th July until Saturday 15th July.
We are looking for artists and photographers to submit works to sell and display throughout July. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional artist or art is simply your passion, we want to house your creativity in support of St Leonard’s Hospice. As it is our first year there is no theme to restrict you. We want to see what you can do. Yorkshire is full of talent and we want to shout about it.
WHAT CAN I DO?
We are looking to display over 500 artworks. The idea is that members of the public can come along to view and buy the artworks. There is a maximum of 6 exhibits per artist.
We are looking for examples from a range of styles and genres, no larger than 80cm X 80cm (32ins x 32 ins) when framed. The event is first and foremost a fundraising event and we want to be able to put as much back into the Hospice as possible. Therefore there is a fee of £5 per exhibit to be displayed and St Leonard’s Hospice will receive commission of 30% on all sales. You set your price and if you would like to set a higher commission you will be contributing even more to patient care. In the event of 100% commission being gifted to St Leonard’s Hospice, exhibits entry will be complementary. Please contact Katie directly to arrange.
From the exhibited works an artist and a photographer will be selected to be our featured contributors in 2019, receiving top billing and a prize. The public will also vote for the festival favourite.
HOW CAN I HELP?
We are not only looking for artists to display their works but we are looking for a team to help us assemble the works and support the festival practically. If you are as passionate about exhibits as we are about the Hospice we need you on our team. This will involve cataloguing, hanging and even selling the works.

The festival will be taking place in July. The deadline for entries is Friday the 1st of June. You can register here online or fill in one of our application forms.
