Park Opera is proud to present a sparkling evening of popular gems from the world of opera and operetta, including stirring choruses, romantic melodies and moving ensembles. From drama to romance, tragedy to comedy, there is sure to be something for everyone.
Under the Music Direction of Anna Loveday, our superb soloists include the delightful sopranos Debra Morley and Lucy Dickson, talented young tenor Robert Jenkins, stalwart baritones Ian Henderson and Gregor Kowalski, and Anna herself, who is an outstanding mezzo. Our wonderful accompanist is Judith Flint. All are deservedly favourites with Park Opera audiences, and they are supported this evening by our fantastic Chorus.
Highlights include the exciting Triumphal Scene from Aida, the Toreador’s Song from Carmen, the hauntingly beautiful Flower Duet from Lakmè (remember the British Airways advertisement!) and Figaro’s well known song from The Barber of Seville. You will also recognise the much loved Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana, the famous Quartet from Rigoletto and a showstopper from The Elixir of Love, which will be sung by charming tenor Robert Jenkins, who scored such a resounding success when he played the role for us in February. From the world of operetta we will bring you familiar favourites from The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, Merrie England and Iolanthe. But there is much more – and you mustn’t miss it!
This will be an evening of gorgeous melodies, and we look forward to seeing you in one of the lovely churches we are visiting.
