Going directly from a call to preach to leading a church is extremely rare.
Preachers need the maturation that comes from serving under another pastor, BEFORE leading their own congregation. Congregations can neglect the vital role associate ministers play, and it can sometimes be discouraging.
But it doesn’t have to be.
Pastor Scott recognizes that your time as an associate minister, serving at St. Paul Baptist Church can be an affirmation of your ministerial call, a time of spiritual development, and a fruitful season of Christian service.
To aid you in that process, we are hosting The St. Paul Baptist Church Associate Ministers Conference, Friday, April 27th, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM and Saturday, April 28th, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. It will be led by The Reverend Dr. Martha Simmons, the founder of The African American Pulpit and The Women of Color in Ministry.
If you are
* an existing Associate Minister affiliated with St. Paul Baptist Church,
* a Licensed Minister or an Ordained Reverend (even if you have just newly joined St. Paul) and you desire the opportunity to be officially recognized as an Associate Minister of St. Paul, or
*if you are in the discernment process of your call towards ministry,
You are invited to attend.
Register Online by Wednesday, April 13th at 5:00 PM.
