The Boychoir of Ann Arbor Young Men's Ensemble presents their annual concert showcasing a diverse range music from the male choral tradition, including classical choral works, solos, a cappella, American folk song, spirituals, and barbershop.
Young Men's Ensemble is a community choir for boys with changing voices (ages 13 to 18), led by Music Director, Dr. John Boonenberg. The Young Men’s Ensemble will feature folk-inspired works such as “A-Roving,” arranged by Norman Lubhoff, and two South African folk songs: “Tshotsholoza” and “Senzeni Na” and modern a cappella settings of “Not While I’m Around,” by Stephen Sondheim, and “Lullabye,” by Billy Joel. The group will also present classical choral works by new composers for male voices, including “Journeyman’s Song,” by Braeden Ayers, and “The Rising,” by Andrea Ramsey, plus solos and duets chosen & prepared by the young men themselves. Of course, no Young Men’s Ensemble concert would be complete without the rollicking “We’re the Men of the Boychoir Chorus.” Don’t miss this dynamic and versatile group in this eclectic and fun program!
