The CMT department at NEIU is excited to offer a brand new workshop "The Professional Musical Theatre Audition!" The class will take students on a comprehensive journey of the professional musical theatre audition from audition book creation and structure, communicating with accompanists of all levels, song repertoire, and the moment-to-moment craft of acting through song. Students develop the ability to shape a custom audition for any role to ensure that they get noticed. Our work in class will strive to unlock the individual performer on their own terms and to push each actor to share the most authentic version of themself in an audition through the right material, the strongest emotional connection in the room, and the broad understanding of what happens in front of and behind the table. In this class each actor will learn that the audition room is their time and their space and their opportunity to book the gig.
