In Room 0111.
A Feldenkrais workshop intended for the many of my colleagues who have had injuries (or injury scares), themselves or with their students. All are welcome, regardless of age, experience, physical ability, or affiliation with Stony Brook.
It is worth noting that workshops like these can cost up to hundreds of dollars, so this is a great opportunity to become exposed to this work at no cost to you.
In this workshop, participants will be guided through various movement sequences in order to improve their mobility and better integrate their nervous and muscular systems. There will be discussions on the pertinent concepts of the Feldenkrais Method, its application to our well-being as musicians, and its methodology as applicable to improving one’s teaching.
Participants should expect to leave feeling refreshed, more comfortable in their bodies, and inspired with a list of resources for further study.
Wear comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement, and bring a towel or yoga mat for lying on the floor. Snacks will be provided.
Free and open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members. Please RSVP to email@example.com.
