Did you know you can grow Sakoo (Cambodian Arrowroot) and Banana plants right here in Pierce County?
Join Mr. Than Him at our Annual Community Garden Summit for a special class on growing Sakoo and Banana, two tropical yet hearty and adaptive plants featured in Southeast Asian cuisine. Sakoo in particular helped many survive famine, and is a beautiful and deeply meaningful plant.
Come hear stories about growing up with Sakoo and Banana, and how Mr. Him has learned to help these plants thrive in our Western Washington climate so they can continue to be important cultural food source for the people living in our County.
This special class will be held in an informal question and answer-style format, and is based on years of experience and traditional ways of knowing. Bring your respectful curiosity and an open mind.
*This class is a part of our annual Summit, and is absolutely free - though Mr. Him will have a limited number of Sakoo and Banana starts in exchange for cash donation, so bring cash! Suggested donation amount TBA
