FEMMES: A TRAGEDY
by Gina Young
directed by Kaitlyn Crockett

We are auditioning for 8 actors to be in a staged reading of Gina Young's brilliant femme-tastic play "Femmes: A Tragedy", about queer femme performers and their lives off the stage.

This heavily-performed staged reading will be hosted at Mill City BBQ and Brew, a restaurant in Lowell, during Pride Month.

SYNOPSIS

Femmes: A Tragedy is a contemporary tragicomedy in two acts, partially inspired by Clare Boothe Luce's 1936 play, The Women. When a community organizer's polyamorous girlfriend drops her overnight for a hot bartender, her friends-- an activist, an academic and a party promoter-- are thrown into girl/girl competition despite their best intentions, and are ultimately forced to parse the ways butch/femme relationships do or don't replicate heterosexual stereotypes.

Also featuring performances that may be spoken word, interpretive dance, singing aria's, & all other various kinds of performance - and all centered around the actors' capabilities!
