The Sundarbans is the largest single block of estuarine mangrove forest in the world. Apart from being the world’s largest delta and mangrove swamp, it also is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal. It is also the World’s largest estuarine forest. The Sundarbans is a National Park, Tiger Reserve, and a Biosphere Reserve. Located at the delta of the two rivers, the Ganges and the Brahmaputra, it has a unique biodiversity.The name Sunderbans is synonymous with the Royal Bengal Tiger and is the only natural abode of it. The rich flora and fauna, specially the bird life of Sunderbans can make any Wildlife Photographer go crazy. With its unique culture, the folk dances, the Tiger Lord, forest God and Goddess, fishermen and honey collectors with lot of songs and dances is going to mesmerize you for sure.
7th December - 9th December 2018 (2 nights 3 days)
Pick from Kolkata Rashbehari or Scince city and drive towards Godkhali by air conditioned car. Breakfast will be served in the car during the journey. Boat cruising will be started towards resort from Godkhali. Lunch will be served at our resort. After a short rest in the evening cruise to Birds Island and Sunset point. Spend the evening with the group, discussing the experience over a cup of tea/coffee, followed by dinner enjoying cultural programme by locals.
Breakfast will be served early on completion of which we shall start our Sundarban exploration. A visit to the Sajnekhali (Watch Tower), Sudhanyakhali (WT), Pirkahali 1 & 2 and Dobaki. Lunch will be served on the Cruise Boat during the journey. On the return leg the cruise continues via Daul Varanee, Banobibi Varanee, Choragachee Khale and finally to Panchmukhi (the meeting point of five rivers). Spend the evening by joining the group for the discussing your experience and you can consult our skipper for any guidance in photography.
A visit to the Mangrove plantation and a local village tour after breakfast can be organized. After lunch departure for Kolkata enroute via Gosaba Bazaar, Rabindranath Tagore bungalow and Thakur Anukul Chandra temple (Ashram). Drop at Kolkata and our tour end here.
Things to carry
1. Telephoto lenses – preferably above 400 mm.
2. Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.
3. Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries.
4. Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop.
5. Carrying a Tripod is a must for all bird photography workshops.
6. Carry a big towel / cloth to protect your gear from dust.
7. Carry a big cloth / bandanna / scarf to protect you from dust.
8. Warm clothes, gloves for the chilly early mornings.
9. Sun screens are very important.
10. It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.
11. Please carry suitable mosquito repellants to keep you protected from mosquito bites.
12. Carry a pair of good binoculars.

Soumabrata Moulick is a passionate wildlife photographer and nature enthusiast. Primarily interested in behavioral and conservation photography, he believes that knowledge should be shared with no holds barred and has a flair for teaching. An engineer by profession, he devotes all of his non-office hours to the observation, study and documentation of nature and wildlife. His work has been published and acknowledged in various national and international media platforms. He aspires to become a full-time conservation photographer and contribute towards the conservation of fast vanishing natural wonders. He is associated with DCP Expeditions as a Panel Expert, Team Mumbai.
