The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Theatre presents Good Kids, a play by Naomi Iizuka, on April 12th, 13th and 14th at 7:30pm, and April 15th at 2:00pm.

Good Kids explores the very public aftermath of a sexual assault and its cover-up among students at a high school. April is sexual assault awareness month and the play adds to our community’s bigger conversation, inviting audiences to rethink our cultural assumptions about gender and sexuality and to have honest discussions about the incident.

The play will be performed in the Hartman Theatre within Myers Fine Arts Building.

Trigger warnings:
• Discussion of sexual assault & rape
• Teen sexuality
• Teen alcohol use
• Profanity and derogatory language

Shawna Mefferd Kelty stated “Good Kids isn’t simply a play about sexual assault; it’s a play that raises questions about our culture and how we shape attitudes towards sexuality and gender. In the age of technology and social media, live theatre gives us the opportunity to have conversations about the issues that are impacting our students and our community.”

Admission is $9 for general admission, $6 for faculty/staff/seniors/non-suny students, $3 for SA members, and is co-sponsored in part by Student Association of SUNY Plattsburgh.

Questions and comments should be sent to Dwayne T. Butchino, performing arts coordinator for the SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Theatre either via phone at (518) 564-2243 or via email at butc3332@plattsburgh.edu.
