It was in the fall of 1989 that Roberto and Simone Luti met for the first time with Rolando Cappanera, all of them in their early teens. The Luti brothers had already been jamming together in the house, Simone on bass and Roberto on guitar, inspired by the father, a blues and rock lover, while separately Rolando was getting good on drums thanks to his father, drummer of the popular italian metal band Strana Officina. A common friend of their parents, singer Johnny Salani, hook them up one day, and after that one whole afternoon spent jamming together, the First Experience Band was born. First as an instrumental trio, then joined by Salani, they gigged in italy extensively for a few years, playing blues and rock classics in clubs and festivals all over the country. As they split in harmony in 1994, they got involved in several projects, some separately some together. Both Rolando and Simone became very well respected live performers and studio session men, touring together with rock band Cappanera, and separately with Strana Officina (Rolando) and Bobo Rondelli's Ottavo Padiglione(Simone) among other things .1999 Roberto moved to New Orleans, making a name for himself as a premiere slide guitar player, getting involved in bands and studio work, playing clubs and festivals, and becoming an important part in the music of the successfull movement Playing For Change ( Simone too will be involved in PFC few years later).
In 2008 Roberto came back to Italy, and that summer, one afternoon, the three friends got together to play music, sweat and have a good time in the same room were they met almost 20 years earlier. What came out was a long jam, each of them bringing their own experiences and musical approach, generating a new and exiting sound, sort of a crossover of different styles, based on groove, energy and improvisation......oh and rock and roll!
So after a number of succsessfull reunion gigs, they decided to record their first album during the fall of 2011, under a new name,Tres.
The songs in the album are born starting from ideas, riffs and grooves that came out jamming in the original room where they met, or during improvisations in concerts and were recorded live to preserve the attitude and character of live performances. With a rock solid and groovy rhythm section, on which the slide guitar lays riffs and leads the journey, TRES love to play what feels right in that moment, within the stage and the audience, defining a sound that has the blues, is funky, and it rocks!
