See Nature. Take Photos. Do Science. Win Prizes.
Join the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter on Saturday, April 28, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a City Nature Challenge biobltiz. All the observations you make will count toward the City Nature Challenge AND help to guide the management of the Swaner Preserve.
During the bioblitz, Swaner will offer help with the iNaturalist app, hands-on nature activities for kids, access to our field guide library, and guided walks on the preserve where we use iNaturalist to record what we see! Tours will leave from the EcoCenter every 30 minutes starting at 10:30 am.
What is the City Nature Challenge?
We are surrounded by nature in our neighborhoods, parks, and even in our downtowns. Between April 27 and April 30, cities around the world are competing to document their urban nature with the iNaturalist app in the City Nature Challenge 2018. Showcase our rich local biodiversity, win prizes, and compete for the Wasatch Team in this international citizen science quest.

What should you bring?
• Bring your mobile device. If you don't have a mobile device, we'll have a few iPads on hand that you can try out. If possible, download the iNaturalist app and set up your account before you arrive. If you need help getting set up, we'll be happy to assist you at the event.
• Long pants, closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and sunscreen will help keep you safe and comfortable. You may want a daypack, jacket, or hat. Feel free to bring your favorite field guide to plants, birds, insects, etc.
