It's almost time to crown this year's Vermont Bartender of the Year! After dozens of submissions, and a tight battle at the Stonecutter tasting room, we've narrowed it down to eight finalists. A big congrats to our finalists:
Danny Decelles || The Archives || Burlington
Nadia Womble || Waterworks & Mule Bar || Winooski
Andon Whitehorn || Notte || Middlebury
Matt Farkas || Main and Mountain || Ludlow
Josh Wilcox || Mad River Tasting Room || Burlington
Chelsea Harris || Pizzeria Verita || Burlington
Elizabeth Strano || The Copper Grouse || Manchester
Celia Savoie || The Bearded Frog || Shelburne
Our eight bartenders will compete in a series of elimination-style pantry challenges, with each round showcasing a Vermont-made spirit. Our pantries will be well-stocked, but it wouldn't be the Bartender of the Year competition if we didn't challenge everyone creatively with a couple of surprise ingredients for each round!
$10 gets you access to the competition, as well as a cocktail sponsored by Appalachian Gap Distillery. Here's what the timeline looks like for Tuesday:
3:00 pm - Bartenders arrive, prep
4:00 pm - Heat 1 sponsored by Smugglers' Notch Distillery
4:30 pm - Heat 2 sponsored by Barr Hill by Caledonia Spirits
6:00 pm - Final round sponsored by Mad River Distillers
After the event the USBG will sponsor a bar tab for competitors and industry friends!
We're looking forward to seeing who will take the title this year. These bartenders have all worked hard to get to this point, and they'll have to work even harder if they want to be crowned this year's Vermont Bartender of the Year!
Of course none of this is possible without our wonderful sponsors and friends of the industry, most of whom will be present at the competition showcasing their products. A big thanks to:
The Copper Grouse
Saxtons River Distillery
Long Trail Brewing
Smugglers' Notch Distillery
Mad River Distillers
Barr Hill by Caledonia Spirits
Halyard Brewing Co.
