"What's Pressuring You? Growing Up in the Modern World" Student Art Display: A St. Lawrence University Partnership with Canton Central School
Opening Reception
Tuesday, April 17
3:00-6:00pm

This semester, Canton Central School students have been collaborating with St. Lawrence University students from Dr. Jessica Sierk's Urban and Rural Education class (EDUC 3030). This exhibit will display artwork that originated from this community-based arts partnership. The partners welcome everyone to come see what is pressuring youth today. We hope that this exhibit fosters conversations about sometimes difficult topics including, but not limited to social media, body image, and politics.

Inspired in part by the “Under Pressure” International Graffiti Convention, a street arts festival that takes place annually in Montreal, this project also encouraged cultural exchange between participating students and Canadian artists who have been involved in similar projects. TAUNY invites the community to enjoy this display and consider how the forces pressuring today’s youth may differ or stay constant in relation to the varied cultures of everyday life in and across the boundaries of our region.
