According to diving theory, cold water is less than 21° C.
However, the temperature in lakes of Central Europe exceeds
it only during the summer. Just on the surface. The water remains
"fresh" all year round. Locations, that best characterize diving in
the Czech Republic, its history and present - are quarries. Usually
these are lakes with varying visibility and the mentioned
temperature, which is a result of the alternation of the four
seasons and the associated water movement. We will dive on
Leštinka Quarry, which has an excellent base support on land, but
also an interesting aquatorium.

The trip program is "free", allowing everyone to select the
time of arrival/departure and the number of dives. Most
participants will arrive on Friday. Because of the long daylights, it
will be possible to dive late afternoon. In the later hours, we will
organize something, what we usually call diplomatically:
"exchange of experiences". Nor the barbecue is excluded, it
allows some ambitious individuals to stand out in their culinary
We will stay in cottages, which will give the event the
character of the true "diving" excursion. Ivana, the quarry
operator, has in her "pub" a rich selection of typical Czech
dishes. We will consume them, especially during the Saturday
night, when we will plan a joint dinner and the subsequent party.
It will surely be a good opportunity to get to know our colleagues
from other countries.

Part of the event will be a short lecture zone, with the
central theme of “Cold Diving”. In a pleasant clubroom or
maybe even outdoor, we will be able to get an advice
from more experienced divers about “how to fight the coldness”
in recreational, technical and expedition diving.
From the diving point of view, it is a quarry with a
terraced characteristic, where granite was used. This area is
approximately 1 ha with the depth of 26 m. At present, it is
possible to observe the underwater capital pieces of carp, wings
and ditches. But we can also see catfishes, sturgeons or
crayfish. There is a diving bell (keson) at the depth of 20 m, which can accommodate up to 5 divers and has a regular fresh air supply.
After diving if anyone desires another sport activity, there are a bowling alley, netball, pétanque and more, or take a bicycle. There are many other quarries in neighborhood or town Skuteč as well for anyone to discover.
