The People’s Meeples are a new charity, who are hosting a special board gaming night at local tea room tea@hart!
We strongly recommending contacting us, or the tea room, to book a table (we would hate for people to turn up and we’re full!), and let us know of any individual requirements that will help everyone have a fun evening.
On the evening we have a team of volunteers, trained in ASC awareness by Catcote Academy, who would love to show you how to play some board games. DC, Marvel, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, trains, cars, maps, numbers, science… you name it, we (probably) have a game for it! A volunteer will sit with your family and teach you a game to play together. You can order food and drink. You’re free to leave whenever you and your family would like to, or you can stay until we close at 10pm. Our volunteers will be with you from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
The staff and volunteers on our ASC night have undergone autism awareness training by Catcote School. At the moment the downstairs will be used by other customers. We hope in the future to offer an ASC only evening. On an ASC evening we will limit the maximum number of people so there is more space and less noise than usual. Our room upstairs will be split in two, with large curtains, to reduce noise and create fewer visual distractions.
