Tuesday April 3
The Intelligent Teaching of Islam
Instructor: Abbas Husain
A pioneering workshop for Islamiat teachers, an opportunity to reflect on better teaching and learning of important topics at a young age. Teachers will be introduced to the standard book and web resources on the Quran, the Seerah, the Hadith and intelligent responses to Islamophobia in the world today.
Wednesday April 11
Becoming a Smarter Science Teacher
Instructor: Sadiq Merchant
In this workshop for science teachers, participants will identify the difficulties that keep them from making their lessons more engaging. Teachers will learn how to write, execute, and evaluate concise lessons plans with inquiry-based activities which strengthen their students' critical thinking skills.
Wednesday April 18
Instructor: Fahmina Iqbal
A passion for reading can change one’s attitude to life and learning. In this workshop for teachers of Grades 1 to 8, participants will learn to implement smart reading strategies in their teaching of all subjects in English. The workshop will focus on improving comprehension skills, and cultivating reading habits beyond the classroom.

About the Instructors
Abbas Husain is a scholar and teacher, and has trained over 55,000 teachers across Pakistan in the last two decades. He holds a M.A. in English Literature and a M.Ed. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Manchester University, United Kingdom. He has received professional training at the Universities of Toronto, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Chicago. He is one of the founding members of SPELT and has published widely in national and international journals. He is also the founder and director of TDC.
Sadiq Merchant has more than twenty-eight years of teaching experience. He holds a B.A. in Science and a M.A. in Education. Currently, he is an entrepreneur and a trainer, and he runs his own institute where he teaches Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Social Sciences to secondary and higher secondary level students.
Fahmina Iqbal is the coordinator of the Online Teachers Training Course at TDC. She has a M.A. in English Literature and Applied Linguistics from the University of Karachi. She did the Master Teachers Course in 2017 and has more than twenty-five years of experience teaching English to secondary and O Level students.
