#var:page_name# cover

The application of essential or aromatic oils to the human body has been practised for thousands of years, and is recognised as a highly effective holistic treatment in its own right. Oils have a unique combination of constituents which can interact with the body, affecting both individual organs and whole systems. Aromatherapy uses special massage techniques in combination with the concentrated herbal energies in essential oils to treat the diseases of both the body and the mind. This Aromamassage course uses pre-prepared oil blends to achieve different effects on the body and mind.

The course will run on 6 Saturdays: 12, 19, 26 May and 16, 23 and 30 June 2018.

What will I learn?

You will learn about the effect of the oils on the body systems; history, theory & development of Aromatherapy; Aromatherapy massage techniques; how to perform an effective full body aromatherapy massage treatment.

You will study pre-blended oils to provide relaxation, uplifting, sense of well-being, stimulating treatments and their effect on the main body’s systems.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is only suitable for learners who have completed or who are studying a body massage qualification at NVQ Level 3.

What qualification will I achieve?

City & Guilds level 3 Award in Massage with pre-blended oils or unit credit if working towards a full Diploma qualification.

How and where will I be taught?

This program is delivered at The Amethyst Centre. We use a variety of teaching methods which will vary according to the groups we have. Much learning is through practical application, discussion, exploration with treatments performed on each other until safe correct techniques have been mastered. You will then progress to working on clients and will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your treatments and complete task work quickly during the course.

How much work will I have to do from home?

You will be given research, practical and written tasks to do each week; they will take between 1-2 hours depending on your learning style plus you will have the anatomy & physiology learning to compete which can be done at your own pace. There is no pressure to complete all the work within the hours of the course; we offer a lifelong learning opportunity so you can keep going without the pressure.

How will I be assessed?

The practical will be assessed carrying out a massage treatment on clients once you have fulfilled the pre assessment requirements covering a variety of massage treatments on different body types. During the practical sessions you will be given guidance and feedback so by the time you come to take the assessment you will feel comfortable with the process. The theory assessment is an on line multiple choice test.

How can I pay?
You can pay in full up front, or via a payment plan. A 10% deposit will secure your place on the course.
You will need to pay a registration fee to City and Guilds if you aren't already registered with them.
