Yay! Mouses are touring and they're coming back to Sheff kids!!! Top-notch support on the night comes from Basic Bitches and Fig by Four.
The bastard offspring of the Jesus And Mary Chain meets a seriously twisted and distorted version of Weezer.” Mouses are guitarist and vocalist Steven Bardgett and drummer Nathan Duff, a lo-fi garage punk duo from Billingham renowned for their raw and energetic live performances and a tendency for gig induced self-destruction. Formed in early 2014, they have built a growing reputation for their unique sound, combining surrealist lyrics and playful melodies in a whirlpool of fuzzed-out, frenetic punk rock.
As heard on BBC Radio 1 (featured as Huw Stephen’s ‘Tip Of The Week’), BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio; Mouses have burst onto the scene with festival appearances at Reading and Leeds, Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape, Evolution Emerging, Twisterella, Stockton Calling and Olgas Rock Festival in Germany. They released their highly anticipated debut album, ‘The Mouses Album’, on 23rd September 2016.
Basic Bitches (U.S)
Ferocious, hard-hitting NY two piece, Basic Bitches are singer/guitarist Naomi Scott (a current Brooklyn resident who hails from London)and Nick D'Amore (who plays in the current line-up, when he's not pounding the skins with New Jersey's Overlake).
Scott often finds inspiration in quotidian subject matter ("Summer In The City," "Comes The Dawn") at times weaving it into evocative commentary that speaks to broader societal ills ("We All Moved To The City Now We Can't Afford To Live") from an outsider's perspective ("Mass Shootings and Donald Trump," "Fighter") maintaining a wry sense of humour ("Come On Brenda, It's the 90's for Chrissakes," "Cross Your Eyes and Jump") all the while.
These are heart-on-their sleeve anthems for the isolated and disenfranchised, those looking to exuberantly belt along with Naomi Scott's formidable howl and sweat it out to Nick D'Amore's pummelling percussion.
Fig By Four
Fig by Four is the solo project of exceptionally talented Leeds-based musician Sarah Statham. Fans of quality music will know her already as a member of brilliant bands Esper Scout/Living Body/Crake (to name but a few...) and her involvement with Chunk and Bomb the Twist.
