Free Concert for Families!
Friday, May 4th at 7 p.m.
Award-winning jazz saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk returns to Easton Middle School to teach students jazz improvisation as part of the Avalon Foundation’s Young Audiences Youth Outreach Program.
Antoniuk, a Canadian-American saxophonist and educator, is a nationally renowned musician and jazz educator based in the Washington DC area. His many projects include leading the Jazz Update quartet and the MARS 4-tet.
This year, he will be working with 8th graders for three sessions to practice jazz numbers and solos they will perform later in the Avalon Theatre. Starting on Monday, April 11, Antoniuk will go on to collaborate with students at the middle school on April 18 and 25, culminating in two free concerts at the Avalon on Friday, May 4.
One concert for their classmates will be at 9:30 a.m.; the other, open to families and the public, will be at 7 p.m.
The Young Audiences Youth Outreach Program is the centerpiece of the Avalon Foundation’s programing for children. The Foundation works with the Talbot County Board of Education on creating programming that enhances current curriculum, offers in-school residencies with world-class performers like Jeff Antoniuk, and presents six free bus-in performances for students during the school year.
