This very practical class simplifies the fundamental teachings of yoga by exploring the four common yoga paths – Karma-yoga, Jnana-yoga, Ashtanga-yoga & Bhakti-yoga, clarifying what separates and what unites them, how it all relates to asana practice, as well as which elements of these paths are most practical for deepening one’s own yoga practice in today’s world.
Students will be be better prepared to interpret yoga teachings for themselves by gaining an understanding of the most fundamental concepts of yoga through the Bhagavad-gita, yoga’s most essential text.

Ashtanga-yoga / Meditation
Jnana-Yoga / Renunciation
Karma-yoga / Action
Bhakti-yoga / Devotion
The modes of nature (gunas)
The relation between the mind, intelligence, ego, and self.
The relevance of asana practice in yoga.
