- Born in Essex. Residing in Brighton. Comedian telling her story of modern single life.
-Poet and Essayist. Jessie will be telling their story of living with M.E in their mid twenties.
Most people have heard of M.E but that’s where it ends. Highly stigmatised and incredibly misunderstood, there are millions missing struggling without support, proper understanding, and treatment. There has been an avoidance regarding funding for medical research, a disregard for providing the correct information about support and treatment plans, and a general air of disbelief that it is even a real illness.
"Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is a systemic neuroimmune condition that causes dysregulation of both the immune system and the nervous system. An estimated 15-30 million people around the world are suffering from ME. Approximately 75-85% of them are women and 80-90% of them are undiagnosed." - UNREST.
By raising awareness, we can encourage more medical research funding, and change societal thought and assumptions around M.E.
We will be raising the money for #MEAction, a non-profit in the US that has transformed the accessibility to learning about M.E, and brought it into the spotlight.
