The Bomb Factory Art Foundation is pleased to host a new body of work by resident artist Jack West.

‘Not Going to Work’ is a show combining large scale and sculpture and CGI video that explores themes of work and labor, purpose and redundancy. Engine like forms are held up on blocks, machine objects are trapped in a cycle of endless submission and totem like forms stand firm then fall away. Through this work, West continues to question the way in which we relate to a world of work where automation and technology both loom large as a threat but also present the possibility of a future without toil.

This short solo presentation follows on from his first solo show – held at Castor Projects in South London last year. As a graduate from The Slade School of art in 2016, West was selected from Bloomberg New Contemporaries in the same year and his large scale public sculpture ‘Frame Break’ can currently be viewed at Spitalfields Market, East London.

This project is supported by Islington Council's Community Chest: funded by Council in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation.
