In "Dissonance & Repair," painters Barbara Kreft and Kimberly Benson explore abstraction through similar channels, investigating ideas such as ideal beauty and cultural representations of nature. Their complex compositions - richly layered, boldly gestural and pulsing with color - reveal their influences upon one another, yet their approaches to painting are completely different. As they explain in their artist statement, "Kreft works to unify a painting into a harmonious assemblage - a delicate process of repair - while Benson searches for a greater level of visual dissonance, a space where energies and matter are allowed to run unfettered."
Show continues through May 20. Free and open to the public.
