The Building Our City Speaker Series continues as we welcome distinguished urban planner and designer Dennis Pieprz. The event takes place at The Center for Craft at 67 Broadway Street in downtown Asheville. Doors will open at 5:30pm, and the presentation will begin at 6pm.

Dennis will share his design expertise focused upon reviving urban districts, creating new communities, designing campus environments, and revitalizing urban waterfronts. Participants will gain an understanding about how these design practices can apply in Asheville and will have lessons and applications for the design of downtown public space, the recent growth of Asheville’s riverfront community, expansion of college campuses and the walkability of our city.

Dennis is a Principal at Sasaki Associates, an international interdisciplinary planning and design firm, where he uses his 25 years of national and international experience to shape new communities and to regenerate the existing. He is a graduate of the Harvard School of Design and the University of Toronto School of Architecture. Dennis and his team have received over 55 design awards and have been nationally recognized by the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Society for College and University Planning.

All Building Our City events are free, and are open to all members of the community, but space is limited.

Building Our City is brought to you by The City of Asheville, Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, Asheville Downtown Association, Urban3, Mountain True, Aloft Asheville Downtown and The McGuire Fund.
