One Sunday a month we gather for a captivating and enlivening evening of chanting and storytelling. Kirtan is a form of chanting handed to us via the Bhakti Yoga tradition. Bhakti Yoga is the 'yoga of devotion' aiming for the center of the heart. It's purpose is to soften the heart, calm the mind, and build community. If you've ever spoken or sung 'OM' you have chanted.
Robin has been chanting for many years and can speak directly to the profound benefits.
*Reduces stress and anxiety
*Helps alleviate depression
*Helps release addiction
*Strengthens the mind against negative thought
If you begin to doubt your ability to 'sing', Robin offers you the advice of one of her teachers, 'It's not a performance it's a prayer'.
In addition to Kirtan Robin will be sharing the myths and stories behind the chants offered. These stories are so beautiful and deeply woven with imagery meant to inspire, illuminate, and awaken the spirtual knowledge inherant in all people.
Nestled on the corner of Fillmore and Fell, The Center SF is an event space and tea house with the spirit of San Francisco deep in its bones. This space offers a beautiful bamboo studio hosting various events as well as an other-worldy, divine tea house dressed in decadent decor.
Robin Duryea has been hosting Sangha Saturdays here since 2014 and has recently created a new monthly event, Kirtan! Myth and Mantra.
