STEAM Team launches at the Children's Museum!
STEAM is short for: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. We are excited to announce our new educational workshops coming to our museum each week with a fun, week-long LAUNCH of our newest program: STEAM Team.
Each day of Spring Break, we will have a hands-on, learning experience for our children in the disciplines of S.T.E.A.M areas. And our theme for this week-long event celebrates St. Patrick's Day and centers around Irish traditions and stories we all know.
Workshops will be led by our STEAM Team leader, Mrs. Brooke Hoak each morning (Tuesday-Saturday) at 10:00am and lasting approx. 45 minutes. Examples of projects include: Marshmallow Catapults (focusing on Engineering, Design (art) and free thinking); Dancing Leprechaun Gold (focusing on Science and reason); Rainbow Artwork (focusing on the Arts, Color Mixing and Expression).
If you cannot make the teacher-lead workshop, don't worry! We are working to include a nugget of the workshop at our newest exhibit station: STEAMworks. At this exhibit, your child can enjoy free-play of a portion of the STEAM Team project on their own pace. Supplies are limited each week at this exhibit, so we hope you can make our live workshop and learn along with us!
Funded in part by the Mason G Smoak Foundation Grant. After our Spring Break launch week, we will be hosting the STEAM Team workshops every Thursday at 4:00pm.
Steam Team workshop is included in your daily paid admission of $5/per person or yearly family membership. Details to follow.
