In our Made by Rae Washi Dress class, one will learn how to:
Read an apparel sewing pattern
Sew and press a seam
Finish a seam with a serger
Finish a bodice with facing and bias trim
Sew a skirt with inseam pockets
Set cap sleeves
Insert elastic thread for smocking
Finish a hem
This class will be taught by Dixie Davis of Dixie DIY.
The course will take place over two days for 3 1/2 hours each (7 hours total). It is designed to accommodate 4-8 students.
Prerequisites: Ability to operate a sewing machine on your own; have successfully completed a couple of woven projects on your own.
CLASS PRICE INCLUDES THE COST OF THE PATTERN WHICH CAN BE PICKED UP ANY TIME AFTER PAYING FOR THE COUSE.
DRESS MUST BE CUT OUT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS. If you have not cut from a pattern before, we recommend that you take one of our Sewing 101 classes where we can show how!
Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most.

-*2 - 4 1/2 yards of fabric depending on size (broadcloth is easiest to work with); PREWASH BEFORE CUTTING
