Pizza Pulpit Feat. Peyote Ugly / Monitor @ The Back Bar at The Crocodile
Peyote Ugly ~ peyoteuglyseattle.bandcamp.com/
With a name like Peyote Ugly, there’s no shortage of imagery that comes to mind. The synth-psych trio lives up to the hype of their moniker. For the last couple of years, the band has cut their teeth in Seattle’s dives and playing a wealth of shows as they fine-tuned the songs that would eventually become the Peyote Ugly EP. The result is a collection of songs that feel like a rare cool breeze waving through the barren desert. Not really “ugly”, but you can feel notes of spacey peyote in the mix.
Monitor ~ monitor.bandcamp.com/
Monitor is a Seattle-based alternative indie-rock band. Vocalist Dave Raskin and guitarist Connor Smith have been playing together since they met at Bowdoin College in 2009 and have just finished their first full-length release, entitled ‘Memorand’, recorded last Winter in Brooklyn, New York. The album explores an eclectic group of arrangements that showcase the diversity of Smith and Raskin’s songwriting styles, all tied together by the obvious comfort which they have developed in 7 years of experience performing together. The band currently resides in North Seattle, where it’s preparing for a series of shows throughout the Northwest intended to promote the album’s Fall release with drummer Pete Fitton.
