Imagine Pomona is a sprawling project and the 1st of a series of exhibitions to engage, hear from, promote, and culturally remap the Pomona community. Meet the curator Jason LaMotte and the team of people who helped to contribute to the launching of this conversation. The exhibition will showcase people, parks, schools, places of worship, murals, homelessness, homicides, taco places, and more within each of Pomona’s six amazing districts. 6 -9 pm. This exhibition is made possible through the generosity of the East Arts Initiative Foundation and with support from Arts 4 LA ACTIVATE - Arts Advocacy Leadership Program, and the City of Pomona.

April 14 -
Ceasar Chavez Pilgrimage & Celebration
800 Garey Avenue, Pomona, CA 91766 (Pomona Unified School District Headquarters )

9:30 am Registration 11 am Tree Blessing & March to Garey High School where there is a festival for all ages to enjoy. Students from the dA Dear Imagination Studio Art Class will be joining the march with their giant paper mache creations of Cesar and Dolores as well as their artovist signs and posters for social justice.

2nd Saturday Imagine Pomona Art Exhibition Opening

Ice Cream Social - Exploring the past as we Imagine Pomona’s Future
The People & The Places
2 pm - David Allen, Author of Pomona A-Z, Devon Hartman Executive Director of CHERP, and global warming right here in LA County, Mickey Gallivan, past President of the Historical Society of Pomona, and David Shearer Executive Director, Claremont Heritage, will lead a discussion about people and points of interest in Pomona with time for Q&A.

3:30 - 5 pm Community Gardening Dig in the dirt and enjoy the benefits of growing great food and breathing fresh air. Meet like minded friends and share your vision for Pomona. All are also welcome to the Open Table Community Dinner & Food Pantry
5:00pm – 6:30pm. A weekly free community dinner, food pantry distribution, and clothes closet.




April 17

dA brings dance & movement to the Armory Homeless Shelter !
1:30 pm All are welcome. dA Art leader Nohemi Camacho will lead gentle and expressive moves that encourage positive energy and well being.

dAco Tuesday - Exploring Pomona : A Service Learning Project.
3:30 - 6:30 pm Meet the amazing students from the University of La Verne’s Pr & Marketing class with Professor Anastacia Baird. The students teamed up to discover the districts and people in Pomona and helped to start the conversation about Pomona.

April 18

Mommy & Me ( Daddies & Abuelas too) Music & Stories
10 am Join dA Art Leader Malori Lane who will explore sights, sounds, colors, numbers and ways to support our future generation of thinker tots !

Youth Arts Advocate Day
4-5:30 pm PhotoVoices / Voter Registration
Art and Activism through the lens of our youth ! Ages 13 & up welcome. Cameras and supplies will be provided at no charge. This event is in pARTnership with Day One.

Pomona Dances for the Arts
6-8 pm - All ages are welcome to join dA Dance ! Dance Artist Mundo Cabrera will lead all ages in a Folklorico feast of traditional movement and music. Folklorico is a result of the “mestizaje” or mixing of cultures after the European conquest. Each region of Mexico developed a unique form of folk music and dancing depending on the different tribes in rehearsal area as well as the different European and African influences.

Special Needs & Everyone Movement & Music Express Yourself Wellness Hour

9 am - 4 pm CicLAvia kicks off 2018 with a brand new route - Heart of the Foothills - on Sunday, April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day! The country’s largest open streets event will connect the City of San Dimas, the City of La Verne, the City of Pomona and the City of Claremont! Streets will be closed to cars and open for cyclists, pedestrians, runners and skaters to use as a recreational space!

Monthly Youth Coalition Meeting
Noon to 2 pm. Meet with Local organizations who are advocating for better programs for our youth in Pomona. Bring a bag lunch and join the conversation. Better programs for youth = Better futures for all.

Project Sister #Times Up #BastaYa for Sexual Violence
6 - 8 pm Project Sister Family Services began as a response to a series of violent assaults against women in the Claremont and Pomona areas. This is a safe zone for survivors will be time for survey

Y4P3 - Youth for Positive Pomona, National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependance and the dA provide a magical evening for the winner of the annual 15era contest. The traditional dress, music, food, and the decorations are provided for a memorable celebration to empower a future with great choices.

Pomona Improvs 6 pm - 8:30 pm - All ages are invited to this creative theatre session of unplanned spontaneous exchanges. The actors create a dialogue, action, story, and characters and a great interludes of comedy and consciousness unfolds.

everyone can express themselves however they like whether it be through Rap, Poetry, Singing, Comedy or even just starting a discussion. We want everyone to feel as though they can come to our Open Mics and work on their craft without feeling intimidated or unwelcome.
