#var:page_name# cover

In celebration of the important ecological role elephants play and to kick off new summer programming, The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee will host a family-friendly Earth Day event on Saturday, April 21. The event will take place from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at The Elephant Discovery Center in downtown Hohenwald, Tenn.

Visitors to The Elephant Discovery Center will be invited to interact with the hands-on, self-guided exhibits that teach about the ecological role elephants play in the wild and tell the stories of The Sanctuary’s resident elephants. Special programming and activities will take place from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Caregiver Chat
1:00 – 1:30 p.m.

A member of The Sanctuary's Elephant Care Staff will share how resident elephants influence their Middle Tennessee habitats, similar to how their wild counterparts shape their native environments.

This Caregiver Chat series will continue on the second Saturday of each month at The Elephant Discovery Center.

Children’s Craft Hour
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Inspired by The Sanctuary’s life-size ‘re-tired’ elephant sculpture, created by Nashville-based artist Alex Lockwood, children will be invited to create elephant-themed crafts from recycled materials.

**No elephants will be present at this event**
