In the first of the Embassy Alternative Justices events, we are moved to welcome Hector Black into our community for an evening of discussion about forgiveness, compassion and harms done.
In 2000, Hector's daughter Patricia was raped and murdered when their home was invaded. He forgave the killer Ivan Simpson and called on the judge not to give Simpson a death sentence. Hector is an advocate for compassionate justice and radical communities.
The Alternative Justices project is a decentralised collaborative community-based project that offers alternative systems for addressing harm in our communities. Our aims are to:
// build consent culture
// work towards healing harms done in our communities, both by violence and the violence that is the carceral system, through transformative justice
// fighting prison abolition by building alternatives
** This is a free ticketed event and there are only 20 spaces in order to keep this intimate. Please do not turn up with out a ticket which you can reserve on the embassy page **
