The week of Monday April 16 through April 20, 2017 is a fun filled week of natural learning & exploration of the land around the Solar Campus in Summertown, TN. Outdoor Week will include nature scavenger hunts, creek walks, and other fun activities focused on using our five senses in the outdoors. We cook out, play games, find signs of animal life, look for edible and poisonous plants, study water flow, walk in the woods, and more.
We open the event to the public the middle three days of the week. Fees are associated with this event and advanced registration is required.
As for the timing of specific activities on any given day, that will be firmed up in the days leading up to the start of Outdoor Week. (Our staff will have planning sessions leading right up to outdoor week, and they take into account not only the number and ages of visiting students, and their requests, but also any special resources that are available currently -- such as a visitor to The Farm who has something to share with the group).
You should also know that on any given day we may change plans at a moment’s notice based on what’s happening with weather, group interests, etc… Nature is a natural environment for natural learning. We respond to what's happening in a natural way. As for the specific interests of our visitors (such as an edible and poisonous plants walk) these can usually be accommodated on any given day.
For those of you who feel you are too far away, please know that planning an overnight stay on The Farm can also be an option.
Please visit our website for registration, overnight info and cost details.
