Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 9 a.m., Rev. John Gibbons preaching
Adult Choir will sing.
Rev. John Gibbons assisted by Lisa Perry-Wood will lead the 9 a.m. Easter service with the theme “’Pomegranates in Heaven?’ or ‘Life After Death?’”. Having recently participated in a panel on this topic with Christian, Jewish, and Muslim perspectives, John will share his UU perspective. Hymns will include the uplifting and raucous “Lo the Earth Awakes Again” and “O Day of Light and Gladness”; in honor of Passover we will also sing “Shalom Chaverim”. The adult choir will sing the angelic Cherubic Hymn by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and in a nod to music from Music Sunday 2018, the truly awesome Et resurrexit from the Messe Solennelle de Saint-Cécile by French composer Charles Gounod. Robert Noble and Steve Sussman will be accompanying the service and Robert will end the service with a sparkling organ postlude of Pachelbel’s Toccata in G Major. The service will last one hour.
