This 5 mile fun run is open to runners of all levels and is an opportunity to come together for a healthy night out. Enjoy some wine and snacks post run while learning about different running topics from our experts.
The run will start at The FIT Institute and will follow a Roscoe neighborhood 5 mile route. You are able to use The FIT Institute locker room facilities (shower, etc before and after the run) and safely store your gear in the lockers. We will meet at the front desk and then head out for the run!
Are you maximizing your recovery? Stay after the fun run, enjoy some wine and snacks and find out ways to maximize your recovery.
Training errors are believed to be one of the most common causes of overuse injuries.
Overtime, with increased mileage, less than optimal mechanics, and inadequate recovery there is tissue failure resulting in an injury. Active restorative classes will now be offered at The Fit Institute following a 5 mile universal sole fun run and 15 minute active lecture series.
We will discuss different topics to make you a faster, stronger, and overall healthier runner. Stephanie will lead a 30 minute recovery class, consisting of flexibility training and myofascial release techniques. “Myo” refers to your muscles, while “Fascia” is targeting the connective tissue which plays an important supportive role to the musculoskeletal system. Foam rolling is one way we are able to address adhesions within the fascia, or "knots" in the muscle fibers allowing our bodies to maintain or even regain flexibility; and our muscle to function maximally.
Sessions to be lead by Stephanie Ferro- Doctor of Physical Therapy at The FIT Institute. Graduate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and collegiate soccer player from Florida Atlantic University
Whether you are in a training program or just want to run with friends we hope that you sign up today for this complimentary event.
