Folk at the Froize on Sunday 3rd June 2018 will feature Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys, nominated for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Sam Kelly is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning Bristol-based singer, song-writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. As a young child Sam spent many a night enraptured, listening to his Irish grandfather tell folk tales, sing folk songs, and play folk tunes on his melodeon. Having caught the bug, Sam has dedicated his life to rediscovering and renewing the sounds of his gaelic heritage, and creating exciting new music that transcends the boundaries of traditional and popular music. Joined by Graham Coe (cello), Archie Churchill-Moss (melodeon), Toby Shaer (whistles, fiddle), Ciaran Algar (fiddle, tenor guitar), Evan Carson (percussion) and Jamie Francis (banjo), we’re set for a truly fantastic night of music.
We will also be joined by Scottish duo The Jellyman’s Daughter who land squarely in the middle of a strange crossroads between bluegrass, post-rock, folk and soul. Mixing their unique vocal harmonies with wild and visceral cello, driving guitar and sweet mandolin, Emily and Graham write their songs together with a focus on doing something new.
We’ll be inside a heated marquee in Froizeland, so you can just sit and enjoy the sounds, eat to your hearts content, and dance the night away if you wish.
Your ticket includes a feast of Froize tapas.
Venue: The Froize, Chillesford, Suffolk IP12 3PU
