Join us for an extra special Folk at the Froize on Friday 15th June 2018 with the amazing Urban Folk Quartet.
This fiddle-led music draws heavily from celtic dance forms and traditional song, but from there on in, it is unlike any folk band you have ever heard. The UFQ’s approach to the folk ethos is to embrace any and every influence, from funk grooves to middle-eastern melodies, afrobeat to north Indian rhythms.
Featuring two phenomenal fiddlers, Galician Paloma Trigs and Joe Broughton, Dan Walsh on banjo, guitar and vocals (a Froize favourite who is touted as one of the finest banjo players in the country), as well as Tom Chapman (widely considered to be the most accomplished and innovative cajonero the UK has to offer), this band are sure to whip up an on-stage frenzy and get everyone out of their seats. A night not to be missed!
“A sizzling hot ensemble who fuse folk with elements of dub, house and rock with an ease that shouldn’t naturally follow that list of genres. Built on the rhythms of a cajón-wielding percussionist and oud-playing bassist, the phenomenal fiddlers led the quartet in one of the tightest line-ups I have ever seen.” – Olivia Haughton, Songlines
This event will take place inside a heated marquee in the Froize garden and include a feast of Froize style tapas.
Venue: The Froize, Chillesford, Suffolk IP12 3PU
