4|12 Collective are a newly formed ensemble dedicated to performing contemporary and experimental music. Based in London, 4|12 is made up of current students at the Royal Academy of Music who have a shared passion for breaking boundaries: playing unusual arrangements, bringing a fresh take to improvisatory & experimental pieces written for an open instrumentation, and using live electronics in their programs.
With a diverse range of instruments in the group - strings, brass, flute, clarinet, percussion, harp and piano - the collective enjoys making use of unexpected combinations, big and small, to surprise their audiences. Their debut concert in 2018 at the Angela Burgess Recital Hall was highly successful, with audiences praising their imaginative programming and unique sound.
