Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Join us in a Painted Rocks Awareness Project!
Our mission is to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse prevention. The Astoria Column will be lit teal, the sexual assault awareness color, for the entire month of April and our hope is that finding these rocks around town will help inform people about why it’s lit, route people to educational resources through our social media, and inspire community members with “Messages of Love”
What we need from the community
Painters! Anyone willing to paint rocks at home and place throughout the community. Local artists, students, hobby rock painters, anyone is welcome
Donations of green, yellow, white and blue acrylic paint, paint pens in any color, and lots and lots of rocks!
Businesses wiling to display a few small rocks or even a big painted rock to raise awareness
Ideal Rock Specifications
Please paint rocks solid teal (shade variation is fine) or incorporate teal into the art in a noticeable way. Write any uplifting, inspirational, supportive or positive “message of love” for anyone on the front side, and write the #consentrocks on the back.
Post pictures on social media of rocks you paint or find in the community with the hashtag #consentrocks
