Our much-anticipated live performance series, CommUNITY Café, returns on April 7th at the Harold Washington Cultural Center culminating our weeklong series of events for the Only Light, Only Love MLK reflection week!
CommUNITY Café is a performance experience designed to connect, inspire and organize diverse communities to action. We are honored to have Liz Dozier, founder and CEO of Chicago Beyond, and Liza Garza from our 2018 Artist Roster co-host the evening that will feature diverse performances of spiritually grounded, socially conscious and spatially relevant artists from around the city, nation and world!
Our eclectic lineup features the funky and thought-provoking Oddisee, the fierce and powerful Sa-roc, the soul-tugging Drea d'Nur, and world music trio Surabhi. Witness the self-identified Spontaneous Composer - Brother El’s- live beat-making technique and engage with live art by Chicago graffiti artists and muralists, Liz Lazdins, and the legendary Raven!
CommUNITY Café starts with Café Hour at 6:30p, during which audiences are invited to engage IMAN's ongoing community wellness work, support local businesses and artists, and connect over a meal or artistic activities including a live band and community-engaged live art.
For the first time we are introducing a backstage experience called the, ‘Light and Love Experience’. Details about how to be a part of this intimate opportunity and how to reserve your seats today are listed on our Eventbrite ticket page.
