Teaching of the Circle
We are all connected and we all have a responsibility to one another. It is important that we remember that what we put into the circle or don’t put in affects everyone in the circle. Positive thoughts, comments and energy helps us all.
When sitting in the circle, please honour this sacred hoop by not walking through it, but around the sacred bundle that is in the centre of the circle.

Women - Wearing of Skirts
It is suggested that the Women may wear skirts to honour their own power as women and to be able to connect with Mother Earth. The skirt is also representative of the Sacred Hoop of Life. While it is recognized that many women carry the teachings of the skirt and recognize it as part of ceremony, it will be left to participants to decide if the skirt reflects who they are. The skirt may not be the way for everyone and that is okay.

Smudging
Smudging is the spiritual practice of burning medicines (e.g. sage, sweetgrass, tobacco, cedar) for a cleansing purpose. It is the smoke that is passed over a person that helps to clear away any negative energy and thoughts. From this cleansing a person is more prepared to be present in a “good way.”
Smudging is a ceremony. It is asked that participants use this time to become silent and reflect on being present and the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers.

Ceremony of the Drum Circle
This drum circle is a sacred ceremony. When we sing, we are praying, reflecting and practicing the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers. We come to sing and share that singing with one another. Please refrain from other kinds of sharing that are not relevant to the drum circle until this sacred ceremony has ended.

Aboriginal teaching of listening and observing.
It is a traditional Aboriginal teaching to observe and listen, especially when coming in to a new environment. Observe and listen for how things are done. When in the drum circle, watch and listen and learn how things are done .

Abstinence from alcohol or other drugs
It is not possible to be fully present in mind, body and spirit when one has consumed alcohol or other drugs.
Not only does the presence of substances in one’s body affect oneself, it can have an impact on others around him/her.
It is asked that all participants of the drum circle abstain from taking such substances within a minimum of 24 hours of attending the drum circle and at best 4 days prior.

CANCELATION POLICY:
Notice of cancellation must be made a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of the workshop in order to receive a refund. Cancellations made after the 48 hour period will not receive a refund.
