Please join Kate for a fun evening of chanting in Sanskrit and Hindi. The practice of Kirtan (pronounced "KEER-tahn") is open and accessible to everyone.
All you need to do is open your heart and listen, and then allow the mantras (words) to flow through you, back into the world as an offering.
Most of the mantras we will chant are simply names of God- different aspects of the Divine that we can identify with, for example, the Obstacle Remover, the Fierce Divine Feminine, or Unconditional Love. Kirtan is a wonderful way to connect with all of the Divine aspects of yourself.
Singing together is a profoundly human activity, transcending culture and religious beliefs.
Kirtan operates on many levels simultaneously.
-increase lung capacity to create deeper breathing
-activate the parasympathetic nervous system, creating the relaxed state necessary for the body to heal itself
-cultivate a calm, meditative practice of being in the moment with the music
-provide an authentic way to spend time with people from many cultures and walks of life
-empower your energy system with the healing frequencies contained in ancient mantras
Kate has been making music her whole life, then she discovered the joy of kirtan during her yoga teacher training. Something about singing in this way with other humans just feels right! After learning more about the healing power of music, she now sings kirtan wherever she may find it.
